Participation in community
NDIS Community Access and Social Participation
Staying connected to your community is not a luxury. It is fundamental to mental health, personal growth, and quality of life. Velocity Support Services provides NDIS-funded Community Participation and Social Support to participants across Ipswich, Brisbane, Gold Coast, Logan, and Toowoomba, helping you get out, get involved, and build the social connections that matter to you.
Our support goes beyond supervised outings. We work with participants to identify activities and groups that align with their genuine interests, then provide the practical support needed to attend consistently, build relationships, and gain confidence in community settings.
Community Activities We Support
Participation looks different for everyone. We help you access the activities, events, and opportunities that match your interests and goals.
We provide support for:
- Attending local events, markets, and festivals
- Joining sporting clubs, fitness groups, and recreational activities
- Volunteering and civic participation
- Visiting libraries, galleries, and cultural venues
- Social outings with peers, friends, and family
- Group programs and workshops at Velocity Hub
- Exploring new hobbies, classes, and skill-building opportunities
How We Make Community Access Meaningful
Interest-Led, Not Activity-Led
We start by asking what you enjoy and what you want to try, then find the right community opportunities to match. We do not fill your calendar with generic outings.
Building Confidence in Real Settings
Our workers support you in navigating real community environments, from ordering at a cafe to introducing yourself at a new group, at a pace that feels comfortable.
Velocity Hub as a Starting Point
For participants who are not ready for mainstream community settings, Velocity Hub offers a safe, supported space to attend social programs, creative sessions, and group activities before transitioning into broader community participation.
Pathways to Independent Access
The long-term goal is for you to access your community with less support over time. We work toward that by gradually stepping back as your confidence and connections grow.
Common questions.
Where do you provide community access support?
We support community participation across Ipswich, Brisbane, Gold Coast, Logan, Toowoomba, and the Lockyer Valley, with workers based locally in each region.
How quickly can community support start?
Community participation services generally commence within a few business days of confirming your NDIS plan and finalising your service agreement.
Do you follow NDIS pricing for community participation?
Yes. Community access support is billed within the NDIS Pricing Arrangements and Price Limits. All costs are agreed in writing before services begin.
Can I choose the activities I participate in?
Always. Your interests and goals drive the program. If you want to focus on sport one month and volunteering the next, we adjust accordingly.
What is Velocity Hub and how does it fit in?
Velocity Hub is our own community activity centre where participants attend social groups, creative workshops, fitness programs, and events in a supported, welcoming environment. It is available alongside your broader community participation plan.
